"Every man has two countries: his own and France."

H. de Bonnier (1875)

Almost every day of the week there is a local market, full of fresh regional produce.

The market in Monflanquin takes place on Thursday morning. Also on Thursday, there are huge markets in Monsempron-Libos and Monpazier.

On Saturday morning there is a market on the square and under the covered market hall in Villeréal and there is a big market on the central square in Villeneuve-sur-Lot.
In Issigeac, about 20 miles north of Monflanquin, and in Pujols, about 10 miles south of Monflanquin, there are busy Sunday markets.

In the lounge of B&B Les Bourdeaux you will find information on all the markets.

In July and August many villages have a marché gourmande. At these markets the regional producers have a stand and they prepare plates with their local products. This allows you to buy a starter of e.g. ham and melon at one stand, choose your main dish like mussels with frites or magret de canard at another, buy a bottle of wine or bread at a third stand. Then you take a seat on the long tables in the middle of the square and, while having your meal, you can chat with your neighbour or listen to the musical entertainment and the buzz around you.
