Learn to paint the beautiful scenes of the Lot-et-Garonne.

In the beautiful, medieval village of Monflanquin you can have painting classes for a whole week with Flasi (Mme Florence Albouy). Flasi owns a gallery on the central square of Monflanquin and gives painting classes for starters and for experienced painters. Monflanquin is a picturesque village with little squares, completely renovated, medieval alleys, stunning vistas and a beautiful central square, surrounded by arcades.

The artist: Florence Albouy (Flasi)

Flasi, her real name is Florence Albouy (1965), started to paint when she was 19 years old. Her grandfather, a painter himself, taught her the first principles but quickly she found her own style in acrylic. She specialises in landscapes, sea/marine views but also makes abtract paintings. Flasi was born in the north of France but lived several years in the south-east of France where she was inspired by Mediterranean landscapes and the stunning landscapes of the Provence. In Bordeaux she gave demonstrations for the paint Lascaux and advised professional painters. Now she lives in the Lot-et-Garonne where she dedicates herself completely to painting and giving painting courses.

The courses:

Flasi offers three courses; two painting courses that take place in Monflanquin and one framing course that takes place in Villeneuve-sur-Lot, about 15 km south of Monflanquin. Don't worry if your french is not very good; Flasi lived in London for three years and speaks good English.

1. Water colors: "Carnets de voyage en Lot-et-Garonne"

Learn to catch the beautiful vistas of Monflanquin, the famous pigeon towers of the South-west, the small churches, the medieval washing places and the robust en pierre houses in your own water color painting. Don't worry if you don't have any experience; Flasi will get you started and she will help you along the way.

During this five-day course Flasi will explain the composition of a painting, perspective, color analysis and various techniques. The actual painting will be done outside in Monflanquin or, if the weather is bad, in the atelier behind the gallerie. In that case you will be painting on the basis of photographs. So lessons will not be cancelled in case of rain or bad weather.

Lessons take place from Monday till Friday; in May, June and September from 9.00 till 12.00 and in July and August from 17.00 till 20.00. So, besides your painting lessons, you will have time to explore the surroundings or relax next to the swimming pool.

The price for a course of 5 days is 150 euro per person, including all materials (palette, brushes, paper, pencils, paint).

For experienced and non-experienced painters. Minimal number of students: 3, maximum number of students: 6.

2. Oil paintings and acrylic:

In acrylic Flasi originaly found her own style. In her courses, impressionism and abstracts are very important. During the lessons she will explain about perspective, drawing, making sketches, color analysis and various techniques. You will use brushes and knives. The scenes you will be painting will be landscapes, sea/marine views and still lifes.

The course will take place in Monflanquin, in the atelier behind the gallerie.

Lessons take place from Monday till Friday; in May, June and September from 9.00 till 12.00 and in July and August from 17.00 till 20.00. So, besides your painting lessons, you will have time to explore the surroundings or relax next to the swimming pool.

The price for a course of 5 days is 120 euro per person. Materials are not included; you have to bring you own materials.

For experienced and non-experienced painters. Number of students: 3 à 4, maximum of 4 students.

3. Framing:

In this course, that will take place in Villeneuve-sur-Lot, Flasi will show you the various possibilities and techniques of framing a picture. Examples of what will be taught: passes-partouts, ovals, ellipses, octogenarians.

To take with you: engravings, photo's and postcards.

Lessons will take place from Monday till Friday from 14.00 till 16.30, in May, June and September. In July and August from 9.00 till 12.00.

The price for a course of 5 days is 140 euro per person. The use of cutting tools like ruller, triangle, square, pair of compasses, knifes and glue are included.

Paper, carton, fasten rings, glass and frames will be charged extra.

For anyone with or without experience. Minimal number of students: 3.

Combination of courses:

It is possible to combine the water color course (1) or the oilpaint/acrylic course (2) with the framing course (3).

Our stay at Les Bourdeaux:

Our B&B Les Bourdeaux is situated 2 km south of Monflanquin. We have three spacious guestrooms, each with its own, luxuruous bathroom. Around the house you can use the swimming pool with its terrace with lounge chairs, a covered terrace, a jeu-de-boule court and a giant chess board. After a couple of interesting hours of painting you can relax next to the pool or explore the surroundings and visit one of the medieval villages, towns or castles. In your room you will find information in English. In the livingroom/library for our guests we have lots of books and a television set.
